BM patent applns. will be open from August.

BM patents applied for last year will be open successively from this August because patent applications must be laid open within one and half years from the application date.
Just after being laid open, the patent applications will be examined and to furnish the informations of plagiarization in the BM business field will be expected frequently.
Moreover, a positive attitude such as prohibition suits and damage compensation suits for infringement can be taken up to protect a patent right after registration.

Any errors on application and registration forms in KIPO will be notified promptly through Kiponet.

Korean Industrial Property Office announced that they were executing a ¡¸prompt error notice service¡¹.
This service is to notify applicants promptly in case defects are found in application and registration documentations by inspecting items such as application numbers, extension periods, registration numbers, mistakes in data compression and electronic signatures, damages in files and the like.
Until now, the error notification period has taken 4 days due to the return of documents to applicants.
However, this new prompt error notice service can reduce notifying period so applicants can file amended documents on the same date.
KIPO plans to enlarge items of prompt notification and to provide all the services through a 24-hours on-line system.

Patent applications of various¡¸functional chewing gums¡¹ have been forwarded.

Patent applications of functional chewing gums for the promotion of digestion, diet, prohibition of smoking, circulation of the blood, dissolution of a hangover and the like have been filed for 5 years.
Among these, chewing gums for the elimination of halitosis, the prevention of sleepiness, the activation of brain functions, the whitening of teeth etc.
have already been produced on a commercial scale.
Additionally, many inventors as well as existing confectionery companies are developing a variety of functional chewing gums.
Thus, it seems that patent applications of functional chewing gum like dissolution of stress, prevention of adult disease, energetic enlargement and so on will increase continuously.

¡®SHINSEGAE¡¯registered a trademark in North Korea.

The trademark registration of Shinsegae has been completed through South Korean patent attorneys, Chinese patent attorneys and North Korean patent attorneys.
Shinsegae said that they filed a trademark application through Chinese patent attorneys because it was impossible for a South Korean company to file a trademark application directly in North Korea.
Particularly, Shinsegae added they had registered trademarks in the field of hotel management, clothing sales, goods display, restaurant management, manpower supply and photo studio management in North Korea.
In accordance with the activation of economic cooperation, they planed to prepare in advance in North Korea.
On the other hand, Shinsegae registered¡¸½Å¼¼°è¡¹(Korean marking of ¡®Shinsegae¡¯),¡¸Shinsegae¡¹and¡¸E-Mart¡¹because they couldn't receive the present condition of a North Korean trademark registration.
However, the registration of¡¸E-Mart¡¹was rejected because the American retail trade of ¡¸K-Mart¡¹had already been registered.
They are preparing to register¡¸À̸¶ Æ®¡¹(Korean marking of¡¸E-Mart¡¹) now.
