KIPO improves the quality of patent examination.From this year, Korean Intellectual Property Office changed its first priority policy from the shortening of examination period to improvement of examination quality, and introduced a self-examination system for achieving this efficiently.
This system shows that KIPO achieved an improvement of the examination level and its justice.
KIPO searched for a satisfaction degree about the examination among applicants during this quarter.
As a result of this search, the examination level increased over last year.
Particularly, it was evaluated that notifications of examination results were detailed with execute interpretations and high reliance of justice about examination contents.
And, examiners can make precise examinations due to an introduction of self-examination system or the like.
A service for searching Korean, American and Japanese BM patentsFrom now on, BM patents filed in the U.S.A., Japan etc. are searchable through KIPO's professional homepage NIP21(http://nip21.org).
KIPO announced that they started a search page and a guide service for searching Korean, American and Japanese BM patents on its homepage.
In the「free search guide of BM patents」newly-established in NIP21 cite, the free search functions of USPTO and JPO provided by patent technology information center are linked.
People can easily search these BM patents by inputting a keyword.
According to this, people will be able to establish a direction of technology development and to make systematic patent application by searching Korean, American and Japanese patents directly.
BM patents are subdivided.A classification related to BM patent increased rapidly is subdivided from 2 to 27.
BM patents increased to about 10,000 cases last year.
But, because BM patents were not subdivided into various type, it was very difficult to search its prior arts.
BM patents are subdivided into 27 types such as shopping malls, the preservation of security, receiving orders, travel, entertainment and the like based on an analysis of patent applications filed last year, thereby a search of prior art is easy and a storage of classified data is efficient.
As for non-subdivided patent applications which have already been filed, a subdivision business and searching system for this will be completed by this August.
When this business is completed, examiners will improve their examination capability, and companies can easily search the trend of technology related to BM patent.
Small-to-medium-sized companies will export goods with the trademark of large companies.KOTRA will push forward with exports of small-to-medium-sized companies with trademark of large companies by utilizing a recognition of Korean large companies' goods in foreign countries.
KOTRA announced that they would establish a cooperation system combining brands and marketability of large companies with productivity of small-to-medium-sized companies.
Goods from large Korean companies having a recognition contributing to an export of small-to-medium-sized companies' goods are about 297 all over the world.
Orders classified by companies such as Samsung, LG, Hyndai, Daewoo and so on.
Classified by item: electrical home appliances such as TVs, air conditioners etc.(42%) were highest, and information communication goods such as portable phones, semi-conductors etc.(31%) and car related goods(16%) followed.
